Gas Training and Assessment (ACS)
The Gas Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) is the industry recognised and accepted route for experienced gas operatives to gain the certificate of competence needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register.
Description
The ACS qualification contains CCN1 the core gas safety element and must be achieved before further assessment can take place. Alongside CCN1 candidates must qualify in the appliances they will be working on, such as –
CENWAT1 - Domestic Natural Gas Central Heating Boilers and Domestic Natural Gas Water
CKR1 - Domestic Natural Gas Cookers
HTR1- Domestic Natural Gas Fires
MET1 - Domestic Natural Gas Meters
The new centre, based within the Energy Centre at the Falkirk Campus, will enable the candidates to train and be assess in the domestic gas suite. With top of the range brand new modern appliances set within a bright and open space, the new domestic gas centre will provide training and assessment for industry professionals and will attract new students to gas engineering.
Content
This Gas Safety training course is for candidates looking to complete or renew their CCN1 assessment.
The course includes:
- Legislation for Gas Safety
- Combustion, pressure and gas rates
- Pipe work for gas
- Gas controls
- Flue gas analysis
- Ventilation / Chimney systems
- Tightness testing and purging (both low and medium pressure)

Prerequisites
Re-Assessment of Candidates is only available for current Gas Safe registration holders or those who have lapsed by no more than 12 months. If certification has lapsed for more than 12 months the candidate will be required to follow the Initial Candidate route.
Initial Candidates with no previous experience must have completed a Gas Managed learning programme.
