City & Guilds Electric Vehicle Charging Installations 2921-31
This qualification is designed for qualified electricians who want to develop their existing skills to include installation and maintenance of single electric vehicle charging units in domestic properties and small commercial premises.
Description
Following the increase of government investment in the infrastructure of electric vehicle charging, this course offers electricians the opportunity to learn how to install domestic, commercial and on street electrical vehicle charging points in compliance with BS 7671 and the new IET Code of Practice.
ALL Candidates should be up to date with the current 18th Edition and bring with them their own copy of the BS7671 (18th Edition A22022)on day 1.
Prerequisites
QUALIFIED ELECTRICIANS ONLY
This course is intended for practicing electricians as part of the assessment for this qualification. Learners must hold one of the following and supply a copy on the first day of the course
• City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) (2357-13/91)
• City & Guilds Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance) (2357-23/92)
• City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker (2356-99)
• City & Guilds Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (2346-03)
• Equivalent historical qualifications (see EAS Table 4B/4C) EAS Qualifications guide December 2020 (theiet.org) or
• ECS Gold Card, JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician Card For learners in Scotland:
Any of the above or
• SVQ in Electrical Installation at SCQF level 7 + up to date BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations
Other Awarding Organisation equivalences will also be acceptable.
Entry requirements verification on day 1 required to enrol for assessments.

- Understanding requirements relating to electric vehicle charging equipment.
- Understand different types and features of electric vehicle charging equipment.
- Designing an installation for electric vehicle charging equipment.
- Understand requirements for inspection, testing, commissioning, and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment and circuits.
- Understand the use of vehicles as electrical energy storage systems as part of prosumer’s installations
Examinations: *Take place on the morning of day 3
Short answer written questions and design scenario questions (90 minutes / Open book exam).
Online multiple-choice questions. 28 questions 45 minutes. Open book exam.
