These courses aim to help plumbers and heating engineers who want to install Vented and Unvented Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems to comply with the appropriate Building Regulations and Standards.

Our training facilities are unique and custom built to include a realistic working environment and simulated the workplace. This 1 day course will normally consist of a combination of practical and theory assessments. Candidates will be assessed in the workshop followed by a multiple choice question paper. Successful completion of this course will result in an industry wide recognised certificate of competency validation.
The very comprehensive course starts with intensive training in the four modules, followed by the completion of three assessments including one practical. Candidates must successfully pass all three assessments to gain the BPEC Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems certificate and competency card.
Allows the individual/business to register with a competent person scheme allowing the self-certifying of unvented hot water storage systems installations.
If you choose not to join a Competent Persons scheme you will need to notify the local Building Control.

Course consists of four modules:
- Vented and Unvented systems and their operating principles
- Design and installation
- Maintenance
- Compliance with other Building Regulations
Certification
Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.
Entry Requirements
To attend the course, candidates must hold and provide evidence of at least one of the required certifications or entry requirements listed below.
- A formal craft qualification e.g. National or Scottish Vocational Qualification (NVQ/SVQ) Level 3 in heating engineering or plumbing.
- Currently undertaking a course in heating engineering or plumbing which will lead to a formal qualification, such as NVQ Level 3 heating and ventilation or plumbing.
- Or A number of years’ experience in either conventional heating engineering or plumbing. (Must provide proof)
A valid copy of the certification/documentation must be brought on the first day of the course and presented to the trainer before training can commence.
