SQA First Aid Paediatric Emergency
The Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid at SCQF level 6 will equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to administer paediatric first aid and assist them in gaining employment in a childcare environment.
Description
The Award develops basic skills in emergency paediatric first aid and focuses on the role and responsibilities of the paediatric first aider and on knowing how to deal with emergency situations safely.
Practical activities include:
- providing first aid to a child who is unresponsive
- providing first aid in choking situations
- providing first aid to a child in shock
- controlling external bleeding
- administering first aid for bites, stings and minor injuries
This is a hands on course that includes physical elements such as demonstrating CPR on a manikin. You will also be required to kneel on the floor to carry out the practical assessments and we would ask that you dress accordingly.
