Solar Photovoltaic Systems - NOS Mapped (Level 3)
BPEC has developed this course with the aim of providing electricians with the skills and knowledge required to install small scale photovoltaic (PV) systems. The course has been structured to meet the requirements of the National Occupational Standards and is recognised as a demonstration of competence for the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Our training facilities are unique and custom built to include a realistic working environment and simulated the workplace. This course is a requirement of the Minimum Technical Competency document for PV installers and is recognised by the MCS operators as evidence of suitable training.
This 3 day course will enable candidates to select the most appropriate solar Photovoltaic system for a property to meet the client’s needs and to commission and handover the system. It will also provide an understanding of all the legal issues surrounding the installation of these systems and guidance on completion and submission of all the appropriate notifications.

The course covers:
- Photovoltaic panels in context of renewable technologies
- How a Photovoltaic system works – principles and components
- Design of a PV system
- Installation of a PV system
- Commissioning and Client Hand Over
- Maintenance and Fault Finding
- Control and power requirements
- System commissioning and handover to client
Certification
Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.

Entry Requirements
To attend the course, candidates must hold and provide evidence of at least one of the required certifications or entry requirements listed below.

Must hold a BS 7671: 2018 Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) qualification (or newest version)
- Must be a competent electrician and hold the correct qualifications (Pre-Requisites) as per the EAS qualifications Guide or SVQ in Electrical Installation at SCQF level 7.
- Must be a competent electrician and hold the correct qualifications (Pre-Requisites) as per the EAS qualifications Guide

A valid copy of the certification/documentation must be brought on the first day of the course and presented to the trainer before training can commence.
